„Constitutional Days“ Conference

Proceedings on the Conformity of Legal Acts: The Right of Application and the Effects of Decisions of the Constitutional Court - XIII Constitutional Days

Košice, 3-4 October 2024

The Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, organized the thirteenth edition of the annual international conference in early October. This event, traditionally held in early autumn, coincides with the commemoration of the adoption of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic.

Once again, the conference welcomed distinguished foreign guests, including Josef Baxa, President of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic; his colleague, Constitutional Court Judge Zdeněk Kühn; and Tomáš Herc, Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic. The Court of Justice of the European Union was represented by Slovak Judges Miroslav Gavalec and Juraj Schwarcz.

The Slovak judiciary was represented by several notable figures, including Pavol Naď, President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic; Marcela Kosová, President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic; Andrea Moravčíková, Vice-President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic; and the Presidents of the Regional Courts in Košice, Prešov, Žilina, and Trnava.

The conference was also attended by Milan Hodás, State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice; Martin Puchalla, President of the Slovak Bar Association; Peter Hulla, Director of the Judicial Academy; and other prominent representatives of the academic community and various legal professions. Judges of the Constitutional Court, as well as their judicial advisors and analytical researchers, were present both in the audience and among the speakers.
