„Constitutional Days“ Conference

"Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms by Constitutional Courts and International Judicial Bodies – 3rd Constitutional Days"

Košice, September 23, 2014

The key aim of the organisers was to focus on the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in the case law of international judicial bodies, in particular the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. It was also important to look at the case law of constitutional courts, in particular of the V4 countries. It is these institutions, which, in their decisions, specify the obligations of states towards individuals arising from the content of individual rights and freedoms.

Again, many prominent legal experts accepted the invitation. For example Daniel Šváby, Judge of the CJEU, Marica Pirošíková, Representative of the Government of the Slovak Republic before the ECHR, Ján Filip, Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, as well as other experts from various fields of law in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.

Richard Raši, Mayor of Košice, and Zdenko Trebuľa, President of the Košice Self-Governing Region, also accepted the invitation to the event.
