„Constitutional Days“ Conference

"The Third Term of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic – 7th Constitutional Days"

The papers presented at the conference were related to the decision-making activities as well as the overall functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic during its third term of office. In particular, the participants exchanged ideas on the long-term vacancy of judicial offices and their impact on the quality and quantity of case law, changes in the constitutional and statutory regulation of the organization and powers of the Constitutional Court, as well as the proceedings before it and their impact on the decision-making activity during the third term of office. They addressed the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and European Union law in the case law of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic. Moreover, they discussed issues such as proceedings on the conformity of legislation, proceedings on constitutional complaints, proceedings on the interpretation of the Constitution and constitutional laws, proceedings in matters of territorial self-government and more.

The president of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic Daniela Švecová, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic Lenka Praženková, the representative of the Slovak Republic before the European Court of Human Rights Marica Pirošíková. Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, and legal practitioners, researchers and academics from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland all took part in the conference.
