He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice in 1983. After graduation he worked as a corporate lawyer in the Building Housing Cooperative in Brezno. In 1986 he was appointed to the position of prosecutor of the District Prosecutor's Office in Banská Bystrica. In May 1995 he was elected by the National Council of the Slovak Republic as a judge and after taking the oath of office he was assigned to the District Court in Banská Bystrica. In 1997-1998 he was the President of the District Court Brezno, later a judge of the District Court Banská Bystrica, where he served until his appointment as a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic.
He was appointed a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic on July 04, 2002.
