Born on 11 September 1953 in Zvolen. Married.

Graduated at the Law Faculty of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice in 1977. After completing his studies he worked as a candidate-judge at the District Court in Martin. In 1979 he worked at the Regional Court in Banská Bystrica as a judge. From 1992 until February 2007 he worked at the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic and held following offices -- judge, chairman of a senate and chairman of the civil law division with a short internship at the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic in the office of the director general of the Department of Civil Law.

Besides the above working positions in the Slovak judiciary he worked also as a lecturer of civil law at the Law Faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava and recently in the Bratislava Law School and at the Judiciary Academy at the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic.

In the field of the civil and labour law he has published several special articles and is a co-author of the university text book of Civil Procedural Law, commentaries to the Civil Code, Labour Code and special magazine Judicial Practic.

He was appointed the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic on 16 February 2007.
