Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic

Graduated at the Law Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava in 1973.
Subsequently, he worked as a candidate-prosecutor at the Municipal Prosecutor´s Office in Bratislava. Between 1975 - 1977, he worked as the head of the legal division in UKSUP (agricultural inspection and testing institute) in Bratislava; between 1977 - 1985, he was the head of the Property Law Division of the Legal and Tax Department at the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic.
In 1985, he was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Sciences (Csc.) in the field of Labour Law and ten years later the academic title Associate Professor (doc.) in the field of Business Law. Since 1999, he is a Professor of Commercial Law. In 2009, he was awarded the honorary doctorate (Dr. h. c.).
He held important posts in the field of higher education: Dean of the Law Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava (1997 - 2003), Dean of the Law Faculty of Janko Jesenský of Sládkovičovo University (2006 - 2012), Chancellor of Sládkovičovo University (2012 - 2013), Dean of the Law Faculty of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica (2014 - 2017).
He is the author of several books and many specialist articles published in domestic and foreign journals and collective volumes.
He was a member of the Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission (1994-2000); member of the first Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic (2002-2007); member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic (2006 - 2016); President of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic (2006-2010); Vice-president of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic (2010 - 2012); President of the Education, Youth, Science ans Sports Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic (2012 - 2016).
He received several awards: Medal of the Minister of Culture, Gold Medal of Comenius University in Bratislava, Gold Medal of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Gold Medal of Matica Slovenská, Slovak Literary Fund Award for several books, Medal of the Healthcare and Social Work University of St. Elisabeth in Bratislava for developing higher education in Slovakia.
He was appointed a Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic on 14 December 2017.
