RICHARD RAPANT
Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic
in the period from January 22, 1993 to January 21, 2000

From 1964 to 1968 he worked as a company lawyer, then as an attorney in the local government in Trnava. Subsequently he was a professor in the Faculty of Law at Comenius University in Bratislava, where he became head in 1990 of the Department of Labour Agricultural-Co-operative Law, and served from 1992 to 1993 as head of the Department of Law and Environment. He also functioned as chairman of the commission responsible for endorsing dissertation candidates in administrative and agricultural-co-operative law, and as a member of various expert commissions and councils in the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic.
Basic science and pedagogic orientation is agricultural co-operative law, property law, and environmental law. He has written many scholarly and informative papers and articles, academic textbooks and supplements, and legislative proposals in the areas of environmental law and real property ownership.
He was appointed a Constitutional Court judge on January 21, 1993.
