In 1977 he graduated at the Law Faculty of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice. In the years 1978 - 1987 and 1995 - 1998 he worked as a company lawyer. During the years 1987 - 1990 he held the position of official and later head of the legislative Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic.
From 1990 to 1992 he was Director of the Legislative Department of the Slovak Republic Government Office.
From 1992 to 2002 he worked as a commercial lawyer. From 2003 he worked as an advocate until being elected a judge of the Constitutional Court. Besides providing legal services at that time, he also worked intensively in external cooperation in the legislative procedure of several ministries.
He is a co-author of two monographs, a special study and several special reference handbooks.
He was appointed a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic on 16 February 2007.
